NC State has extended football coach Dave Doeren's contract two years through 2019, athletic director Debbie Yow announced Friday.
Doeren's deal increases from $1.8 million to at least $2.2 million a year in the new deal.
Yow called Doeren "an outstanding leader" who "is committed to building a championship-level program the right way." Doeren says the program has "so much momentum right now."
Doeren completed his second year at NC State, finishing with an 8-5 record, including a victory against UCF in the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl. In his first season at NC State, the Wolfpack went 3-9.Yow hired Doeren after firing Tom O'Brien following the 2012 season.
Doeren came to NC State after two seasons at Northern Illinois. He has a career record of 34-18.
