Duke Blue Devils forward Amile Jefferson received approval for a medical redshirt by the ACC, clearing the way for the senior from Philadelphia to return for a fifth year in 2016-17.
Jefferson played just nine games last season before a foot injury sidelined him in December. At the time of his injury the 6-foot-9 forward was averaging a career-best 11.4 points and 10.3 rebounds.
Jefferson is expected to bring leadership to a young frontcourt that will include incoming freshman forward Harry Giles, who is ranked No. 1 in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2016.
