RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes say goalie Cam Ward has a lower body injury and will miss Tuesday's game against theWinnipeg Jets.

Eddie Lack will start against the Jets. The Hurricanes also recalled goalie Daniel Altshuller from the minor leagues.

"If this was Game 82 and we'd need to win, he'd be available," coach Bill Peters said of Ward. "It's not."

Peters expects Ward, who was hurt during Saturday's victory over the New York Islanders, to travel to Ottawa for Thursday's game.

Also, defenseman Justin Faulk is "real close" to returning but will miss his third straight game. He suffered a lower-body injury last Thursday when he collided with teammate Brad Malone during practice.
