Javin DeLaurier commits to Duke

ESPN 100 prospect Javin DeLaurier has committed to Duke, he told ESPN.com on Sunday.

DeLaurier, a 6-foot-9 power forward from St. Annes-Belfield High School (Va.), chose the Blue Devils over the likes of Notre Dame, Texas, North Carolina and Arizona.

"It's the best fit for me on and off the floor," DeLaurier said. "I love everything about it."

DeLaurier took his official visit to Duke this weekend after originally scheduling the trip for October.

"I felt it," he said of the visit. "I know that's where I wanted to go."

DeLaurier was one of the biggest risers in the 2016 class in the spring, averaging 13.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit with Team Loaded Virginia. He averaged 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game at the Adidas Uprising Championships in Las Vegas in July.

Ranked No. 44 in the ESPN 100, DeLaurier adds to a Duke recruiting class that is likely the No. 1 group in the country right now. Mike Krzyzewski already had five-star wing Jayson Tatum (No. 2) and five-star point guard Frank Jackson (No. 14) in the fold, and now DeLaurier brings the Blue Devils some frontcourt help.

"And we're not done yet," DeLaurier said.

Duke is the favorite for No. 1 overall prospect Harry Giles, although he is still going through the visit process and won't make a decision for at least several weeks. Five-star post players Marques Bolden (No. 20) and Wenyen Gabriel (No. 23) were on the wish list, but DeLaurier's commitment could alter those plans.
