Julian Edelman says no X-rays needed after Pats' win

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman was seen walking to the X-ray room after Saturday's 27-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, but he didn't seem concerned about his availability for the AFC title game.

"Everyone's sore," said Edelman, who was playing for the first time since breaking a bone in his left foot Nov. 15. "I finished the game and feel good enough to get ready to prepare for next week."

When asked whether he needed X-rays after the game, Edelman said no. When asked to clarify if he had X-rays, Edelman said that players couldn't discuss injuries.

Edelman was on the field for 52 of 59 offensive snaps (including penalties). Quarterback Tom Brady targeted him a team-high 16 times, and Edelman finished with 10 catches for 100 yards. Edelman said returning in the playoffs after a long absence produced some nerves but also excitement.

"I was like a kid waiting to open up presents on Christmas or Hanukkah," he said.

Meanwhile, the Patriots lost starting linebacker Jamie Collins to a back ailment in the third quarter. Top reserve linebacker Jerod Mayo replaced him but departed soon after with a shoulder injury and didn't return.

The severity of their injuries is not known.

Starting right defensive end Chandler Jones also appeared to be slowed by an unspecified injury and was not on the field late in the game.
