NC State wide receiver Jumichael Ramos will redshirt the 2016 season following knee surgery, coach Dave Doeren announced Wednesday.
"If J-Mike had tried to play, he would have had to deal with nagging injury all season and not be able to play to the level that he is capable of playing," Doeren said. "I'm happy that he will be able to enjoy a senior season at top form."
In 2015, Ramos had 34 receptions for 457 yards and three touchdowns, second on the team in all three categories. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Senior Bra'Lon Cherry will now be the Wolfpack's top returning receiver for 2016. He had 22 caches for 288 yards last season.
