Packers WR Davante Adams (MCL sprain) unlikely to play vs. Cards

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers are likely to be without wide receiver Davante Adams for Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals.

According to a source, further tests on Adams' right knee showed a possible MCL sprain.

"This is how these things normally go," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "Davante told me after the game he was fine. The trainers obviously feel differently than that, and it's usually somewhere in between."

The Packers don't practice until Wednesday.

"Obviously Davante or any of the guys that have things coming out of the game will have a better read on [them Wednesday]," McCarthy said.

Adams was injured in Sunday's NFC wild-card win over the Washington Redskins. After the game, he said he avoided a major injury such as a torn ACL. However, when the Packers returned to Green Bay, additional tests showed there was damage to his MCL. It's not certain how severe the sprain is, but MCL injuries do not typically require surgery.

Adams could not finish the game against the Redskins after he caught four passes for 48 yards and one touchdown.
