The Seattle Seahawks, not the champion New England Patriots, are the favorites to win next year's Super Bowl, according to Las Vegas sports books.
The Westgate SuperBook and the William Hill sports book installed the Seahawks as 5-1 favorites to win Super Bowl 50 heading into the offseason. Super Bowl 50 will take place Feb. 7, 2016, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The Patriots, who rallied from behind to beat the Seahawks 28-24 in Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday, are next at 6-1, followed by the Green Bay Packers (7-1) and Denver Broncos (8-1).
Other notable teams: Indianapolis Colts 12-1; Dallas Cowboys 14-1; Philadelphia Eagles 20-1; and Pittsburgh Steelers 20-1.
The Broncos are one of six teams that have hired new head coaches and will be watching closely to see if quarterback Peyton Manning elects to return. Denver hired coach Gary Kubiak to replace John Fox, who takes over the Chicago Bears. The Bears are listed at 50-1.
The San Francisco 49ers, with new coach Jim Tomsula, are looking to become the first team to play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium. The 49ers are listed at 25-1.
The Oakland Raiders, with new coach Jack Del Rio, are among the biggest long shots at 300-1. The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars also are 300-1. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren't much better at 200-1. The New York Jets (100-1), who hired Todd Bowles as their new coach, and the Washington Redskins (100-1) round out the teams with triple-digit odds.
The Buffalo Bills, who will be under the direction of former Jets coach Rex Ryan, are 50-1.
The Atlanta Falcons are expected to hire Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to fill their coaching vacancy. The Falcons are listed at 30-1.
The SuperBook opened the early Super Bowl point spread at NFC minus-2.5 with an over/under total of 51.5.
