Seattle's Jeremy Lane hurt after INT

GLENDALE, Ariz. --Seahawks nickelback Jeremy Lane came up with the biggest play of the first quarter of Seattle's 28-24 Super Bowl loss to the Patriots with an interception in the end zone but appeared to suffer a serious injury to his left forearm when he was tackled on the sideline.

The Patriots had a third-and-6 at the Seattle 10 when Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw over the middle, trying to connect with receiver Julian Edelman at the back if the end zone.

But the ball went right into the arms of Lane when reached up to grab the pass.

After breaking one tackle on the interception return, the middle of Lane's left forearm appeared to bend abruptly when he was tackled. His arm was wrapped and Lane was taken to the locker room. The Seahawks said he would not return.

The Seahawks also lost defensive end Cliff Avrilfor concussion symptoms after he was involved in a helmet-to-helmet hit in the second half.

After Lane left the game, the Seahawks moved cornerback Byron Maxwell inside to the nickel cornerback spot and inserted Tharold Simon in Maxwell's outside spot.

The Patriots immediately went after Simon, and beat him again and again and again. Three of Brady's touchdowns were thrown to receivers that were being defended by Simon -- to Brandon LaFell, Edelman and Rob Gronkowski.

Lane made headlines 10 days ago when he said about Patriots tight end Gronkowski, "I don't think he's that good."
