Maryland transfer Seth Allen tells ESPN he is headed to Virginia Tech.
Allen, who left College Park despite averaging 13.4 points in nearly 30 minutes per game, committed to new Hokies coach Buzz Williams on Saturday while on a visit to Blacksburg.
"I love Buzz," Allen said. "It's as simple as that."
The 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard made the surprise decision to leave Maryland despite being set to be a cornerstone for the Terps again this season. Now he'll sit out and have two seasons left of eligibility.
"I believe he can make me the player I need to be successful," Allen added. "And I think he will help Virginia Tech win a lot of games."
Williams left Marquette and takes over a Virginia Tech team that was 9-22 overall and 2-16 in the ACC last season. This is a huge pickup for the Hokies, who sorely needed to upgrade their talent.
