CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina has signed 6-foot-10 forward Garrison Brooks as a late recruiting addition to bolster a depleted frontcourt.

The Tar Heels announced Brooks' signing Monday. The Lafayette, Alabama product and four-star prospect had originally signed with Mississippi State but received a release last month to reopen his recruitment.

Brooks' addition comes as the Tar Heels wait to find out whether big man Tony Bradley will return for his sophomore season or stay in the NBA draft. They are also losing seniors Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks from the front line that helped them win the program's sixth NCAA championship last month.

Brooks joins a recruiting class that includes guards Jalek Felton and Andrew Platek, and forwards Brandon Huffman and Sterling Manley.
