RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina State freshman Ted Kapita won't travel with the team for this week's Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.
In a text message to The Associated Press, athletics spokesman Fred Demarest said the 6-foot-8 native of the Democratic Republic of Congo was "in the process of updating paperwork" required for him to travel outside the United States. He will rejoin the team for the Nov. 26 home game against Loyola (Chicago).
Kapita missed the opener while the NCAA reviewed his amateur eligibility status. He was cleared for Sunday's win against St. Francis Brooklyn, scoring 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting with eight rebounds.
In addition, coach Mark Gottfried says sophomore Maverick Rowan's status is unclear due to concussion-like symptoms that sidelined him Sunday.
NC State plays Montana on Friday.
