UNC opens as 2-point favorite for championship game vs. Gonzaga

North Carolinaopened as a 2-point favorite over Gonzagain Monday's national championship game between a pair of No. 1 seeds at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The Tar Heels (32-7) advanced to their second straight national championship game by holding off Oregon 77-76 on Saturday. North Carolina was also a 2-point favorite overVillanovain last year's championship game. The Wildcats defeated the Tar Heels 77-74 on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer.

Gonzaga reached the program's first national championship game with a 77-73 win over South Carolina on Saturday.

If the point spread holds with North Carolina as the favorite, Monday's game will be the first all season in which Gonzaga (37-1) has been the underdog.

The Tar Heels' win over Oregon on Saturday was big for a bettor at the South Point Casino, who risked $525,000 to win $250,000 on North Carolina to beat the Ducks straight up.

The over/under on Monday's championship game opened at 154.5 at most Las Vegas sportsbooks.
