77-year-old man killed during head on crash in Moore County

MOORE COUNTY (WTVD) -- A 77-year-old man is dead following a head-on crash in Moore County Friday afternoon.

The incident, which involved a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer, happened before 4 p.m. on Friday.

Authorities said the crash happened on Highway 15/501 west of the Carthage area of Medlin Lane prior to Highway 24/27.

When crews arrived, they located the man and performed CPR; however, their attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

The driver of the tractor suffered minor injuries.

Traffic was diverted to Stage Road and Priest Hill Road; however, the roadway has since reopened.

Officials with the Moore County Sheriff's Office, Moore County Fire Department, EMS, and NC State Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
