JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A driver was trapped in a fiery car overnight after crashing in Johnston County.

Authorities 55-year-old Sherwood Anthony Bailey, of Clayton, was driving along U.S. Highway 70 Business when he lost consciousness due to low blood sugar and ran off the road.

His car hit a mailbox, flipped, and broke a power pole before catching on fire.

Emergency crews had to cut Bailey out of the vehicle and took him to WakeMed Hospital and later transferred in UNC Hospital in fair condition.

No charges are expected to be filed.
