FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- I-95 was temporarily shut down Wednesday afternoon after a crash involving a semi-truck that caught on fire.
It happened just after 3 p.m. near Fayetteville at Mile Marker 52 where the interstate goes under N.C. Highway 24.
Pictures from the scene showed the burned out UPS truck resting right under the overpass.
The UPS truck driver got out before the fire. Witnesses said the truck was involved in a collision with a pickup truck. Both drivers were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The NCDOT was sending engineers to check on the condition of the bridge to make sure it wasn't damaged by the flames.
Hundreds of packages on the UPS truck burned.
All southbound lanes reopened around 4 p.m. and one northbound lane.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
