RALEIGH -- More lane shifting began Friday night along the I-40 construction project in Raleigh.
The NCDOT told ABC11 that crews are now focusing on moving the eastbound lanes over from just east of the US-1/64 interchange to Lake Wheeler Road.
All of the lane shifts are set to be finished in July.
At that point, the DOT warns drivers could experience up to 30 minute delays when traveling through the eight-mile work zone.
In May, ABC11 did an experiment with our live mobile units and found taking I-540 around Raleigh was actually faster than using I-40, even though the trip is 14 miles longer.
