DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A wrong-way driver triggered a chain-reaction crash Saturday night, shutting down part of Highway 70 in Durham near Cheek Road.

The car traveling the wrong way hit another driver head-on. In all, six vehicles were involved in the crash.
The incident happened around 9 p.m.
Several people were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Authorities told an ABC11 crew at the scene that there were serious but not life-threatening injuries
The road was expected to be shut down for several hours but NCDOT officials said the left lane reopened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Later, officials clarified that the road is expected to be closed until near 1 a.m.
