RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Look up at the sky late Tuesday night into early Wednesday between midnight and 6 a.m. and you just might see a light show. The Orionid Meteor Shower will provide glimpses of shooting stars. Astronomers say we could see as many as 25 meteors an hour.
You can thank Halley's Comet for the light show. Each year in October, the Earth passes through an area of dusty debris from Halley's Comet. When you look up in the pre-dawn hours, the sky can light up with a pretty display of shooting stars.
Experts say this year will be a particularly good year to view the shower, because the moon won't be as bright.
This is the second night of viewing the meteor shower, and the last night you will be able to get a sneak peek.
