Governor Cooper and Infosys announce site of new tech hub
RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Infosys executives and Governor Roy Cooper announced the site of the company's fourth U.S. technology & innovation hub Tuesday during a news conference at the North Carolina State Capitol.
The building on Brier Creek Parkway in Raleigh is still under construction.
"This is a big deal for our state," said Governor Roy Cooper. "This location will be a central location that will draw employees from many surrounding counties, towns and areas."
The tech services and consulting company is bringing 2,000 additional jobs to Wake County, ranging from software developers to analysts.
The jobs will be implemented over five years and will pay an average minimum salary of about $72,000.
The expansion is expected to result in an investment of $2.9 billion to North Carolina's economy.
"We promise we're going to be a very vibrant employer in the state of North Carolina and in the city of Raleigh," said InfoSys President Ravi Kumar.
Infosys will get a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the state's Economic Investment Committee that will potentially reimburse the company up to $22.4 million spread over 12 years if it meets certain goals.
