Commissioner becomes T.A. for a day
One Wake County official became a teaching assistant for a day to understand what that position does for students and teachers

A Wake County commissioner got a valuable lesson on Friday.

Commissioner Jessica Holmes became a teaching assistant at Baucom Elementary in Apex. She documented her day on Twitter.

One tweet may explain a day in the life of a teacher. Holmes wrote she hadn't been to the bathroom all day.

Holmes joined other politicians who took a challenge from a group of teaching assistants to spend one day as a T.A.

The Wake County School District has warned T.A.s could be cut, depending on how the state budget unfolds. The negotiations over funding continue at the General Assembly.
