Your weekend guide
Check out these must-see events around the Triangle.

Carolina is on our mind this week as we check out some of the great events happening around the Triangle:

1. James Taylor at Walnut Creek Saturday 8 p.m. | $30

Music legend James Taylor has sold over 100 million albums during his more than 40-year career, and he's as North Carolina as it gets. Details

2. The Little Mermaid Through Sunday at Memorial Auditorium | Starting at $25

The North Carolina Theatre's production of Disney's "The Little Mermaid" is this week and of course it's a story both kids and adults can enjoy. It's also NC Theatre's final show of the season so definitely worth checking out. Details

3. The Rosebuds at Cat's Cradle Saturday, 9 p.m. | $25

With their sixth full-length record "Sand + Silence" available Tuesday, music duo the Rosebuds will play a sort of record-release party at Cat's Cradle Saturday night. I can't get the first single, "In My Teeth," out of my head it's so catchy. They get a lot of love, so buy tickets now. Details

4. The Listening Room Thursday, 7 p.m. | $10

Mercury Studio in Durham hosts this event every month where local musicians play an intimate setting and fans have a chance to ask questions about their music and life. Tonight it's folk group Lowland Hum out of Greensboro, a husband-and-wife duo that makes incredible music. Details

5. Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival Friday and Saturday | Prices vary

Every year this festival brings a ton of people to Koka Booth for unlimited tastings, plus live music, seminars and contests. One thing I appreciate are the safety measures they take, offering a designated driver ticket. Tickets for this event always go fast so purchase now. Details

6. DeRay Davis at Goodnight's Thursday through Sunday | Starting at $25

This is a really funny comedian you've probably seen on Shaquille O'Neal's All-Star Comedy Jam and the "Barbershop" movies. Details
