HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Fort Bragg United States Army firefighter, Staff Sgt. Brian Hessler, decided to surprise his two boys after returning home from a 10-month deployment overseas.

So, his family in Harnett County set off their home fire alarm so he could enter the house in full firefighter gear to "save" his two boys, Kaiden and Jace.

As Hessler got the children outside to "safety," they quickly figured out that their hero was in fact their father.

"When you are away from your family and watching them grow up over Skype, it's just that seeing them for that first time in person. It's amazing," said Hessler.

"They have just been missing him like crazy," said Hessler's wife, Nichelle. "So we knew we wanted to do something but we were not sure when he was coming and it was difficult to plan.

The video was shot by the Hessler's neighbor, Hannah Salem.
