Saving money at blow-dry bars
Getting your hair blown out has increased in popularity recently, and there are ways to save around the Triangle

Parlor Blow Dry Bar is offering an 11 percent discount on any service for ABC11 viewers with the code ABC11 online or at the time of booking.

Blown Away Raleigh is offering their $25 Tuesday blowouts for an additional day, Wednesday, for ABC11 viewers. Just mention or use the code ABC11 when booking.

Blow dry bars are a booming business. Customers like Marlynn Farabia says it's all about the experience.

"The customer service, I think a big part of it is just the experience," Farabia said during her blow dry at Parlor Blow Dry Bar in Raleigh's Cameron Village.

Blow dry bars aren't about haircuts or coloring.

The business is all about a wash and professional blow dry choosing from a few signature styles including straight and beachy waves to name a few. The bars also do updos and braids.

"I love the way it looks," Farabia said. "And, they're very consistent every single time."

That's why the blow dry business is booming. Customers quickly become regulars and love and it takes the stress off for a special occasion for wedding or prom parties.

In the Triangle, there's Parlor Dry Bar in Cameron Village.

"It really is that extra step to make you feel your best," explained Kelly Thompson, who handles Marketing for Parlor Dry Bar.

Across town, Blown Away Blow Dry Bar has moved in to North Hills.

"It's just a way to pamper yourself where you don't have to do your own hair," said Blown Away Co-Founder Jenny Beaudin.

Beaudin and Thompson both agree, this type of pampering doesn't have to break your budget.

"It really isn't something that's super expensive," Thompson said.

A blowout usually runs about $35, but, you can save with a little planning.

The first tip to save on your blowout is the day of the week you book your appointment.

"Tuesdays, we offer a $25 blowout," Thompson said.

Both Raleigh salons offer discounts of $10 off on Tuesdays.

"It's kind of one of those excuses to let you celebrate in the beginning of the week," Thompson said.

You can also save with packages.

"We have packages available that end up discounting your blowout," Thompson said.

"So, if you buy five blowouts at a time, you save about 20 percent on each blowout."

Blown Away also has packages to help you save.

"We offer a three pack, a six pack, and a 12 pack," said Beaudin.

Memberships are another way to save. Also, ask for student and military discounts.

Plus, a like or follow on social media can go a long way for specials and discounts.

"The end result, there's no way you can do it yourself," Farabia said.
