1 dead after scooter-car accident on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A 22-year-old man is dead after an accident involving a scooter and a car in Raleigh.

It happened just before 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Raleigh police say Atilio Vasquez was killed when a Toyota -- driven by Chun Evans -- failed to reduce speed and struck Vasquez's scooter.

Vasquez died at the scene. Evans, 30, and his two passengers were not injured.

Evans was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.

The wreck remains under investigation.
