CHARLOTTE, NC (WTVD) -- A Charlotte family is celebrating a homecoming that almost didn't happen.
One-year old Emily Hinton is back in her house six months after an explosion severely burned her body.
WSOC-TV reports the baby was burned when a gas can exploded while her grandmother was burning trash outside.
Family, friends, and the Charlotte Fire Department welcomed Emily home Thursday.
Since that explosion, she's had seven surgeries and faces a long road ahead. Her next surgery is in two months, but she'll need continuing care her entire life.
