Alamance County woman killed with baseball bat, man charged

MEBANE, NC (WTVD) -- The Alamance County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man after a woman hit with a baseball bat on New Year's Eve died.

Just before 6 p.m., deputies went to a home at the Rice Mobile Home Park on Edgewood Church Road in Mebane after getting a call about a fight between two men.

When they got there, they found 21-year-old Sara Marie Huber lying on a couch unconscious from a head wound. She died on the way to Duke University Medical Center.

Deputies say Huber was hit in the head during the altercation. They have charged 35-year-old Marshall Randolph Paschal with first-degree murder, assault on a female, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

He was held without bond.
