FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police are looking for a gunman who held up two businesses.

Detectives say security images don't show good images of their suspect, but say his intentions are crystal clear.

"He walks in approaches the counter, has a short conversation with the clerk, pulls out a gun," Detective Michael Ballard said.

That weapon, Ballard said, is a sawed-off shotgun or rifle. Police say the armed robber used it twice, holding up the Gold and Diamond Service Center, and a Days Inn motel at 1720 Skibo Road. The holdups occurred Thursday.

Police are pretty sure the same guy committed both crimes.

"Same clothing description, same vehicle to get away after the robbery", Ballard says. "Lots of similarities, same type of weapon. It's the same guy."

Police say the man is just over 6 feet tall, thin build, and he wore a navy-blue hooded jacket. He drove away from both holdups in a light-silver single cab pickup. Officers don't know who he is, or where he is from.

Federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents have chipped in with a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery suspect is asked to contact Detective S. Yount with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 237-9374 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
