HILLSBOROUGH (WTVD) -- Power has been restored to thousands of residents in Durham and Orange counties following an outage Wednesday morning.

Duke Energy was able to get the power back on around noon after customers in the Hillsborough area had been impacted since about 10 a.m.

The power company told ABC11 that it was having trouble with a transmission line that serves three substations in the area.

According to Duke Energy's website at the height of the outage, about 8,000 are without heat when temperatures in the area were in the 20's.

Authorities had to direct traffic at some intersections during the outage.
