DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham sheriff's deputies arrested a man Saturday who is accused of robbing a gas station and crashing into several cars during a chase.

Willie Mortez Daniel, 46, allegedly held up the Wilco Hess on Miami Boulevard around 3 p.m.

After the robbery, deputies said Daniel ran to JJ's Fish and Chicken where he yanked an 82-year-old woman out of her pickup truck. He reportedly pushed her to the ground before speeding off down US 70.

While authorities were chasing Daniel, he hit several cars, including one on East End Avenue, and another on North Miami and Liberty Street.

Daniel eventually ditched that stolen vehicle after hitting a car at the Wellons Village Shopping Center.

Minutes later, deputies arrested him. No one was seriously hurt during the crime spree. A child hit outside the car at the shopping center was taken to the hospital, but was not seriously injured.

Daniel is behind bars at the Durham County Detention Facility where he is charged with attempted robbery, armed robbery of a person, assault, larceny of a vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and resist, delay, and obstruct.
