Four arrested, 1 sought in Wayne County murder

Authorities in Wayne County have arrested four people in connection with a shooting death in Dudley, and they are searching for a fifth suspect.

On Jan. 9, two people were shot at a home in the 100 block of Sleepy Creek Road. Carlos Cesar Vaquez Luna, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the second victim, 25-year-old Alfredo Garcias, was taken to the hospital and is currently recovering from his injuries.

Detectives said while investigating, they uncovered information that indicated more than one person was involved in the shootings.

Jennele Lea Howard Wall, 35, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Jan. 13.

Wall, from Goldsboro, was also charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, and attempted first-degree burglary. She is being held at the Wayne County Detention Center without bail.

Less than one week later, 41-year-old Montrell Demontrio Allen turned himself in to detectives.

Allen, also from Goldsboro, was charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. Allen was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.

On Feb. 1, Darius Lamar Chestnut, 35, turned himself in to authorities.

Chestnut brought his attorney with him when he turned himself in. He is charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Chestnut was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.

The next day, Jerry Aundry Parks, 41, was arrested at the Wayne County Detention Center.

Parks was at the Detention Center on unrelated charges when he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Parks was also charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, and two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held without bond.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is searching for a fifth suspect connected to the shooting. Billy Renaldo Hamm, 44, is wanted for first-degree murder, among other charges.
