Dominguez was found fatally wounded in the parking lot of the Hodges Creek Apartments in the 2000 block of Hodge Creek Drive around 1:20 a.m., after someone called 911.

"I just pulled up, and I just pulled up in the, in the parking area, I see a cab driver laying, somebody, somebody is laying in the road," the caller told an 911 operator.

Authorities said Dominguez had been a driver for Amigo Taxi for the past seven years and was on duty at the time.

Police have said they suspect there was more than one person involved, but no other arrests have been made at this time.

Edwards is currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center. The homicide investigation remains ongoing.

Meanwhile, Dominguez's coworkers have said they believe he was robbed and assaulted.

"He was a great coworker," Amigo taxi driver Joaquin Loyola said. "I still can't believe what happened to him. We're told they wanted to assault him or rob him."

Tuesday afternoon, a line of Amigo taxis with "RIP 13" on their back windows circled the Wake County Justice Center to honor Dominguez.

Loyola also said that drivers have radios to call for emergencies, but Dominguez never flagged an emergency.

Authorities have not confirmed whether Dominguez was robbed, saying they can't discuss specifics about the case.

Loyola just knows he lost a friend; one he described as charismatic, happy and always friendly.

"Why? That's the question, why," he said. "I want to know more."
