DURHAM (WTVD) -- Earlier, snow and ice were a problem for motorists. Later Monday evening, fog became an obstacle as well. Multiple accidents were reported across the Triangle and throughout the region.
An eight-vehicle accident shut down Interstate 85 southbound near the US 15-501 exit on Monday night. Authorities said the incident was weather-related.
No serious injuries were reported.
The lanes reopened sometime after 10:30 p.m.
Another multi-vehicle accident in Durham happened at Martin Luther King from University to US 15-501.
Several people were involved, but late Monday, police did not have any details on injuries or exactly how many people and vehicles were involved.
Another accident at I-85 northbound in Orange County left lane closed near Exit 170 (US 70).
And in Chatham County, both directions of US 15-501 were closed in Pittsboro with motorists beings given a detour. An accident about 7:30 p.m. caused the snarl and the road was shut down at the Haw River Bridge.
