SUV hits Raleigh utility pole, takes down power lines
A red Jeep hit a utility pole on North New Hope Road in Raleigh, knocking down power lines early Monday morning

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- An accident knocked down power lines in Raleigh early Monday morning when an SUV crashed into a utility pole.

It happened around 2 a.m. on North New Hope Road.

Raleigh police said a red Jeep went off the road, down a small embankment, hit a wooden fence and ended up in someone's front yard.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital to be checked out. No other injuries were reported.

The accident closed New Hope Road in both directions between Marsh Creek Road and East Hampton Drive as authorities cleared the scene. It later reopened around 4 a.m.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
