ABC11's Joel Brown helped celebrate "Read Across America Day."

Events were held across the country and here in the Triangle to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with the annual Read Across America Day.

At Walnut Creek Elementary School in Raleigh, Wake County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Jim Merrill read to children and students and teachers dressed up as their favorite Dr. Seuss Characters.

And ABC11's own Joel Brown read to students at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. Joel read a story about a national champion gymnast born with no legs. The story ties in with Fuquay Middle School's focus, which this year is on perseverance and overcoming adversity.
