FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A man murdered earlier this month outside a barbershop in Jacksonville called Fayetteville home for 15 years. Now, the victim's father will stop at nothing to find his son's killer.

Robert O'Brien Peterson was killed on April 1, and authorities believe the murderer is somewhere in the Sandhills. Fayetteville police are helping Jacksonville homicide detectives with the search for a suspect or suspects Peterson's murder.

Peterson, 40, was a barber in Fayetteville for more than a decade. A little over one month ago, though, Peterson began working at a barbershop in Jacksonville near Camp Lejeune.

Detectives said Peterson was standing outside of the Pro Kutz on Lejeune Boulevard when he was shot. Authorities believe the shots came from a light colored 2009-2014 Honda Accord.

At this point in the investigation, detectives think the gunman may be from the Sandhills area. Peterson's dad told ABC11 on Wednesday that he's never going to give up the search for his son's murderer.

"I will not let that coward take the lives of the rest of my family and murder them emotionally," said Peterson's father, also named Robert Peterson. "We will move forward. I will work tirelessly in the background, until he is caught, captured, killed, whatever it is that has to be done.

Peterson's father is asking anyone with any information about his son's death to email him at robertpeterson72@gmail.com.
