Fayetteville police searching for attempted sexual assault suspect

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities in Fayetteville are investigating an attempted sexual assault that was reported on May 9th.

Detectives said the incident happened around 4:18 a.m. near the Murchison Road corridor.

The victim told investigators that she received a ride from a man she met earlier in the evening and that he drove her to an unknown location off Murchison Road where he attempted to sexually assault her.

Authorities said the suspect struck the woman several times in the face before he ordered her out of the vehicle and fled the area.

The suspect was described as a black man in his late 20s with a muscular build, standing about 6' 4" tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He had long dreads that were pulled back, brown eyes, and wore glasses.

Detectives with the Special Victims Unit of the Fayetteville Police Department are investigating the incident.
