Two people were hurt in a Johnston County crash

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- An overnight crash sent two people to the hospital after a pick up truck flipped and careened into a carport in Clayton.

It happened around 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Corbett Road.

According to authorities, the truck traveled through several neighbor's yards and narrowly missed a power pole just before the crash.

The trucks two occupants were injured, authorities said. One was taken to WakeMed and the other to Johnston Health in Clayton.

Clayton Police told our crew on the scene they were investigating a larceny of wine from the Sheetz convenience store on Highway 42 earlier that evening. Police said the truck that crashed was the same truck they were looking for in connection to the wine theft.

Officers heard about the crash and responded to the scene, confirming that truck was the suspect's vehicle.

Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Authorities have not yet said what charges the driver will face.
