Police ID driver, injured pedestrian in Hope Mills

HOPE MILLS (WTVD) -- Police have identified the pedestrian injured by a vehicle Monday night in Hope Mills.

Police said 23-year-old Daniel Hammond Jr., was walking on Main Street at Russel Street when he was struck by a Ford pickup driven by Robert Novak about 10 p.m.

Police said Hammond was seriously hurt.

Eyewitnesses told ABC11 that there was an argument moments before and the Hammond ran into the street.

The incident remains under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
