The Cary Police Department says three people are charged in an early-morning home invasion style robbery on Sandy Whispers Place Thursday.

John Battle, 23, of Dawkins Street, Durham, is charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony second degree kidnapping, and felony first degree burglary; Tycorey Taborn, 24, of Old Zebulon Road, Wendell, and Justin Atwater, 16, of Dawkins Street, Durham, are charged with felony accessory after the fact.

All three were in the Wake County jail Saturday morning. Battle is also accused in two other armed robberies. One happened at a popular Kangaroo convenience store on Harrison Avenue in May. He is accused of stealing $350 worth of cigarettes, lottery tickets, and cash. The other robbery was at a Quality Mart on Chapel Hill Road near I-40 on Wednesday around 5 a.m., less than 24 hours before the home invasion. Taborn was charged in that crime. The two men allegedly stole $220 worth of cigarettes and cash.

Neighbors say Atwater and Battle no longer live of Dawkins Street anymore after a recent shooting at the address Battle listed when he was arrested.

Neighbors hope more tips will soon lead to other suspects in the home invasion.

"Thanks to near round-the-clock media coverage and posts on social media, we are able to begin bringing closure to the family who fell victim to this horrible incident," said Captain Randall Rhyne with the Cary Police Department.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to call police at (919) 469-4012 or file a report anonymously with Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 460-4636.

It's not clear if there are other suspects or if there will be additional charges again Tabon and Atwater.

A Ford Explorer taken in the robbery was found on fire on Anacosta Road near Dakota Street in Durham just after midnight Friday.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, investigators said five men kicked in a back door at the Sandy Whispers Place home and held four people while they went through the home looking for valuables.

A married couple and their roommate were home at the time, along with the couple's young daughter. Police said the little girl was sleeping during the two hours the suspects were in the home.

When they were finished in the home, the suspects took one of the homeowners to an ATM and forced the person to withdraw money.

Pictures released by police showed one of the men at the ATM wearing a mask.

Police released photos of one of the suspects.

At the home, electronics, jewelry, handbags, and wallets were taken worth in excess of $10,000, according to the arrest warrant.

One of the victims suffered a minor head wound.
