HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 2-year-old is in the hospital after nearly drowning in a backyard pool in Hope Mills.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to the call in the 6600 block of Carriage Crossing Drive around 8:45 p.m. Monday. They said when they arrived, they learned the boy had been found in the swimming pool unresponsive, but it was not clear how long he was in the pool.
Deputies said the homeowner, Jason Adams, began CPR as soon as the boy was out of the water. EMS took the child to Cape Fear Valley Health Systems' ICU.
Detectives are investigating how the child got into the pool and who was supervising him at the time.
