FUQUAY-VARINA, NC (WTVD) -- Friends of Daryl Webster took part in a memorial bike ride and vigil Monday night at the Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church.

Webster was killed last Thursday while riding his bike in Harnett County when a driver hit him from behind. Edward Shane Yarbrough, 39, of Holly Springs, is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, driving while license revoked, and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

"Whether we're in a car or on a motorcycle, or on a tractor or on our bicycle, we are sharing the road and we need to be attentive to all those folks who are on the road and might be on the road with us to make sure that clearly unintentional events like this don't happen," said Jim Casper with the group Spiritual Spinners, which took part in Monday's ride.

Friends say Webster loved to ride his bike and took part in charity events.
