Raleigh Rescue Mission needs help providing school supplies for needy kids

Raleigh Rescue Mission needs school supplies
You can drop off donations through August 19 at the Raleigh Rescue Mission Store at 4700 Capital Blvd.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Rescue Mission is making a last push to collect backpacks and school supplies for children in need.

The shelter needs to collect 300 more backpacks to give during its distribution event August 20th.

You can drop off donations between now and August 19th at the Raleigh Rescue Mission Store and Donation Center at 4700 Capital Blvd.

That is also the location of the distribution event Saturday, August 20th. They're encouraging children in need arrive by 9 am to get a backpack.

Here is a list of the most needed items provided by the Raleigh Rescue Mission:

  • Dry erase markers
  • Kids' scissors
  • Elmer's glue
  • Ziploc bags (all sizes)
  • glue sticks
  • head phones
  • crayons
  • washable markers
  • tissues
  • binders
  • composition notebooks (wide ruled and college ruled)
  • 5-tab dividers
  • rulers
  • highlighters
  • erasers
  • notecards
  • loose leaf paper (wide ruled and college ruled)
  • pens
  • Scientific calculators
  • 2-pocket folders
  • subject notebooks
