Teen found not guilty in murder of Garner couple
A jury found Israel Vasquez not guilty in the double murder

WAKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- A jury found Israel Vasquez, 19, not guilty Monday in the 2013 murders of a couple in Garner.

Vasquez was facing charges of first degree murder, conspiracy, and burglary. He was found guilty of possession of stolen firearms and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

Vasquez was 16 years old at the time of the incident.

On January 5, 2013 authorities found Jose Samuel Flores Mendoza and Maria Saravia Mendoza, both 34, in their house with multiple gunshot wounds.

Another teen, Jonathan Santillan, was found guilty in 2015 on all counts in the murders.

In 2013, a Wake County search warrant revealed that a reputed gang member lived at the house for a time before the Mendozas moved in and detectives suspected he was the intended target of the attack.
