WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- About a dozen animals rescued from a suspected puppy mill in Cabarrus County were brought to the Triangle Wednesday.

Most of the animals rescued are smaller breeds. The animals are ages 6 and older, along with two younger puppies.

Authorities rescued 130 animals in September. The Humane Society said the animals were found in unsanitary conditions.

The Wake County SPCA plans to care for the animals until they are ready to be adopted.
