Korean Americans gathered for a demonstration Saturday on the state capitol grounds.

The memorial service was for more than 300 people who drowned after a ferry boat accident in South Korea three years ago.

Most of the victims were high school students.

The organizers of the service say the South Korean government neglected its duty and failed to thoroughly investigate the circumstances that caused that ferry boat to capsize and sink.

Only about a third of the passengers on the boat that day were rescued. Most, according to memorial organizers, were saved by civilians instead of the South Korean coast guard.
