Motorcyclist dies after crashing on Highway 55 in Durham Thursday night (WTVD)

Authorities in Durham are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash Thursday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. along southbound Highway 55 at Courtney Creek Boulevard, between Conway Drive and Cornwallis Road.

Police say a Honda CBR 600 motorcycle going southbound crashed into the right passenger door of a 2013 Toyota RAV4 that was attempting to make a left turn onto Courtney Creek Boulevard from N.C. 55.

The driver of the motorcycle, 23-year-old Joshua Cutler of Durham, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the SUV, Leslie Bradic of Durham, was hit by glass, but was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Speed may have been a factor in the accident, according to investigators.

No charges have been filed, but the crash remains under investigation.
