10-year-old steals truck, crashes during police chase

TEXAS (WTVD) -- A 10-year-old boy stole his mother's truck and ended up crashing after a high-speed chase with police.

Authorities in Texas said the fifth grader was angry about being in trouble.

A police officer started to follow the vehicle after the boy ran a red light.

At times the child driver was speeding more than 80 mph. The 10-year-old later crashed.

First responders had to use the Jaws of Life to get him out of the vehicle.

Officials said he broke his arm and fractured an eye socket, but was lucky to be alive.
