UNC Police: Woman assaulted during campus robbery

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Manning Drive.

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Police at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are investigating a robbery on campus.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Manning Drive.

Police say a man came up to a 34-year-old woman, assaulted her, and then ran off with some cash. No weapons were reportedly involved.

ABC11 has learned the woman is not thought to be affiliated with UNC.

The suspect, described as a black man in his 30s, fled on foot toward South Columbia Street.

He was around 6' to 6'2" tall, had a slim build, and short hair. He was wearing a red jacket and blue jeans, according to authorities.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call UNC Police. Officials say anyone who sees suspicious activity should call 911 immediately.
