6-year-old injured in shooting at home is back at home recovering
A woman who said she is the child's grandmother said the boy is recovering. The child's stepfather remains in jail charged in connection with the incident.

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 6-year-old shot Friday inside an apartment on Pilot Street is back at home recovering, according to a woman who identified herself as the little boy's grandmother.

The child's stepfather, who was also shot and wounded, remains in the Durham County Jail in connection with the incident. Christopher Graham, 28, faces several charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He and the boy live in the apartment where the shooting happened, according to investigators.

A female relative of the little boy called 911 for help early Friday morning.

"I don't know what happened I just woke up," the woman says during the call, telling the 911 operator that the child was shot. "Please Jesus, come help my child."

No one responded to knocks on the apartment door Sunday, but minutes later women entered the apartment. They did not want to talk about what happened there.

A third woman identified herself as the boy's grandmother, and said the child is recovering at home. She also said stories about the shooting are inaccurate, then said "We just don't want to comment on it."

Graham's bond was set at half a million dollars. He is scheduled to face a judge Monday.
